A Warm Welcome to You! Enjoy the Journey!

It is with great excitement and honour that Kerry recently accepted the award of First Prize- Nature Category from the Sarnia Photography Club Annual Photo Competition. The print Wisdom Within is considered by many to be one of the best photos taken by Kerry to date. The photo was captured in Cathedral Grove, the Old Growth Forest on Vancouver Island, BC.

"Cathedral Grove is one of the most spiritual places I have ever experienced. It is without a doubt my favourite locale on this great earth. The sheer grandeur of the giant Douglas Fir Trees is absolutely awe-inspiring and worthy of the tears I shed each and every time I visit the Grove. Everyone needs a place in their mind to go and find peace during the hectic times. For me, Cathedral Grove is that place of solitude, serenity and spirituality. They have been here long before us, they will be here long after us..." KMB

The Judges Comments:

"There's a story here. The repeating forms of the old double-deckers fill the frame, each presenting its own version of decrepitude, leaving just enough grass so we know this isn't your usual bus parking lot.

The photo begs the viewer to ask questions. The description puts the shot in British

Columbia but what are those right-hand drive (probably-London) buses doing there? Who brought them, to what use will they be put, how can I catch one?"

Insight from Kerry:

"Oh there definitely is a story, though one that may never be fully revealed! There is a place called Parksville on Vancouver Island, one of my favourite resort spots on the island. Here, on the road to Cathedral Grove, is where you will find these buses all lined up in an otherwise empty field. Drive too fast and you would miss this extraordinary sight that sleeps off the road's side. Many times have I been taken in by aura that these old delights gave off, I finally pulled over and took some pictures of them! With no one around to ask the real history of the buses, I continue to create my own memories and historical recollections, still wondering how they ended up on Vancouver Island!" KMB
